What is The Garden Mage?

A garden coaching practice rooted in ecology and community empowerment

The Garden Mage helps people in Portland and Vancouver turn their space into a thriving habitat, loved by wildlife and lush with enough food to share.

Through seasonal coaching, we build practical skills for improving soil health, managing water resources, and caring for plants that align with your gardening quest.

This isn’t landscaping. It’s learning how to care for your land — and build a relationship with it.

My Quest is to empower everyday gardeners to become confident stewards of their land - strenghtening their local ecosystem, supporting community, and building a deeper sense of place.

Rooted in Science. Grown through practice.

I bring practical know-how, ecological training, and lived experience to every coaching session.

  • I earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, with minors in Botany and Microbiology. My studies helped me understand the ecosystems that exist under our feet, the symbiotic relationships between flora and fauna, and how human behavior influences land health over time.

  • Before I started The Garden Mage, I spent several years working in community systems — from serving as a Zero Waste Coordinator focused on sustainable food systems, to volunteering as a youth mentor through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and The Earth Prize.

I’ve always been passionate about helping others discover their strengths, navigate the challenges of growth, and bring their visions to life.

Today, I work as a project manager at a sustainability-focused nonprofit, and I bring those same skills to my coaching. I help clients define their vision, evaluate their options, and break big goals into achievable steps.

For me, it’s all about making change feel personal, empowering, and doable.

  • I’ve been gardening for about five years, focusing on soil health, native plants, and edible gardens.

Gardening is how I stay connected — it teaches me to slow down, observe, and respond to the land I tend.

I’m trained to certify yards through the Backyard Habitat Program, which has deepened my understanding of plants native to the Portland Metro Area.

Let’s Talk About Your Garden.
